Be Flexible
Pricing is usually best when leaving on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Sometimes
you can save some money by changing your dates around and leaving a day earlier or
    coming home a day sooner.

    Staying over Saturday Night
Many times you can save money if you are able to arrange your travel dates so that your
family is staying over a Saturday night.

    Avoid Traveling on Holidays
Holiday travel = High Prices. Don't forget that the airports will also be extremely busy and
flight delays are almost guaranteed.  If possible, think about taking a few extra days off and
start your vacation a couple days early or leave a couple of days later.

    Buy Tickets in Advance
It seems that the lowest airfares are available approximately 6 months in advance and again
2 months in advance. Avoid booking within 14 days of your trip. That's when the airfare
prices skyrocket. Many special fares offered by airlines require a 21 day advance purchase.

    Check Nearby Airports
If you have any other airports nearby that you are able to travel from, be sure and check on
    their rates as well.

    Check Airline Websites for Specials
Here is a list of some major airlines with a link to their websites where you can compare
pricing and check on any deals or their latest offers:

Hopefully the tips listed above will help your family in finding the best airfares available!

Tips on Using Travelocity To Find Low Air Prices:

Note:  Southwest Airlines does not participate in Travelocity. Check their site directly for
    pricing.

To find the lowest air rates available:

  • Enter the airport information in the "From" and "To" boxes (Orlando International Airport -
    Airport Code: MCO).
  • Be sure to select "Flexible Dates"
  • Enter the number of travelers
  • Click on the search button

You'll see a list of airlines and the best airfares they are currently offering. Rules for the
purchase of the tickets can be reviewed on the right side of the page. Pick the lowest fare
that will work for your trip, and check to see which exact dates are available for that fare.
Then choose from the flight itineraries available.

At that point you can either book through Travelocity , or you can go to the airline's web site
and book your flight. If booking with Travelocity, be aware that the site charges a nominal fee
on air tickets that the airlines don't charge.

If you choose to book directly with the airline's web site, make sure to:

  • Write down the flight numbers, dates and times you have found through Travelocity
  • Then go to the airline's web site and put in the same dates and times.
  • The fare that you found on Travelocity will usually come up.

If you would like to keep up with rates being offered, sign up for Travelocity's Fare Watcher.
After you register with your travel information, you will receive e-mails that notify you each
    time the fare changes.
